We were out at sea two days ago. During dolphin search we encountered our first loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) this year. The carapace lenght was about 40-50 cm. The turtle was basking calmly at the surface. Marine turtles visit our waters each year between May and October. We look forward to the new turtle season and to new encounters with these silent sailors.10 May 2011
